January is always a time to reflect and I’ve done that HERE with a rundown of what’s happened in the studio and also HERE with the 2018 weddings, but it’s also the time when I get out my notebook and brainstorm some plans for the coming year. I do this a lot and it’s interesting to look back at the list I did last year!

Neil and I have been plotting and scheming over the last week and there might be some big changes (more on that later), but the shoots you all know and love will continue as normal. So there will be plenty of gorgeous newborns, babies, cake smashes and families through the doors and I am so excited to meet you all!  It’s funny to think someone reading this who isn’t even pregnant yet will be bringing their baby to me later this year!

I want to make some plans for my personal life too. I am ‘lucky’ enough to be facing a big milestone birthday next January and it’s scaring the living daylights out of me. It’s odd that inside I still feel in my 20s yet my birth certificate tells me the stark truth! Everyone tells me it’s just a number and doesn’t matter and I am trying very hard to attune my thinking that way. I am sure with copious amounts of Southern Comfort it will work (I was practicing last night!!).

So plans for my birthday are on the list but before that, my Mam celebrates her 70^th and also my parents reach their 50^th Wedding Anniversary! Not only that but my Brother will be 40, my niece becomes and teenager and my daughter moves into her own brand new home (owned not rented). So as a family there is so much to celebrate in 2019… one of the ways we are doing this is heading out to Portugal together for a family holiday. Doesn’t it look amazing!

But back to Tiny Baby Studio!

Cake Smashes

I am going to create about six set ups for you to choose from. This will make it easier for customers to choose something to suit them, but I will also be open to ideas!

I would like to create a very simple white set up maybe, and a unicorn or super hero theme? I would also love a little camping set up (with a mini tent!) and maybe a circus or princess them? So many ideas… but please let me know your ideas too!

Family Shoots

Something that is very close to my heart is capturing families together. You have a bond like no other and time is passing quickly. It can be all too easy to forget the characteristics that we possessed at certain times throughout our lives. I want to capture your family so you have a beautiful portrait to show off in your home, so every day you are reminded of that bond. Last year I did a series of short sessions at Saltwell Park and I intend to do the same this year once the weather gets a bit warmer, and extend the locations to the beach and to Bolam Lake as I love shooting there.

Mini Sessions

I know you all LOVE my Xmas Mini Sessions and I am already planning how they will look for 2019! Feels bonkers I know but it massively helps to be prepared and it’s a good time to shop in the sales of course. Many places are discounting Christmas stock and I am picking up bits and pieces.

I also want to introduce some new mini sessions. At the moment, ‘Mummy and Me’ sessions are looking like a possibility, where you can wear some gorgeous dresses with your child and create some glamorous portraits. Maybe some simple family portraits in the studio too using a lovely sofa, and I am also DETERMINED to fit a swing into the studio for some over the top floral girly-ness!

Supporting Local Charities

I’ve always wanted to get more involved in the community and I intend to either raise money for a local charity or use my photography skills to give some joy to those who need it. I’ve done a little bit of this in previous years but I want to make a determined effort in 2019. If you know of any local charities that I could get involved with and make a difference then let me know.

So it’s exciting to think about what 2019 might throw up and I am really looking forward to seeing valued customers return and welcoming new customers into the studio.
