Hang on, has 2018 ended? Wait what? That went fast!! Anyone else feeling like this? Seems we were just starting 2018 five minutes ago and here we are, another 12 months down the line and so much has happened. It’s going to be hard to squeeze this into one post so I’ll just share the highlights.

So my January started the same as it has done every year for 49 years (yes I am really THAT old hehe), it started with my birthday! I’ve never been fond of my birthday in early January as it’s such a ‘grey’ time of year with everyone starting diets or giving up alcohol or just totally fed up of partying! The weather is always rubbish and even my 40^th birthday party was cancelled as we were all snowed in… I ended up celebrating in February! I’ve been told I am not allowed to plan my 50^th birthday as Neil is going to take over the reigns and arrange it all for me in secret! Now THAT makes me scared haha!

This year I decided to escape to Scotland in a beautiful cottage and just chill out for a while. Look at the view!

This short break has also given me the opportunity to reflect on 2018.

So let’s run down what went on in Tiny Baby Studio over the last 12 months.

Newborns

Firstly, I photographed 104 newborns! That’s 1040 tiny fingers and 1040 tiny toes and I’ve marvelled and cooed over them all (if you don’t love baby toes are you even human?).

It has been a pleasure to meet all these new little people and I am always blown away by how perfect and how beautiful they are and I ALWAYS get broody and want to take them home! It’s an honour to photograph a beautiful wedding AND then subsequently photograph this couple becoming a family of 2 or 3 or even 4! I’ve received some lovely reviews too that have made my heart sing and my eyes water.

Bumps

And let’s not forget the 5 bump shoots! I would love to photograph more bumps in 2019 and if you are currently expecting, please get in touch. These sessions are very private and your partner can attend. I have some lovely dresses for you to wear… and maybe some new ones will arrive in the studio this year.

Sitter Sessions

32 sitter sessions! I love these sessions as it’s an opportunity for me to see those gorgeous newborns again and see how much they’ve grown. These shoots are for babies who are sitting but not yet walking so normally around 6-10 months. You start to see their little personalities and they are often fast crawlers!

Cake Smashes

In 2018 I shot 18 cake smashes. It’s such fun to capture babies on their 1^st birthday and I’ve had a few different set ups this year, my last one was a dinosaur themed cake smash! Do you have any particular themes in mind for your babies 1^st birthday? I’d love to hear from you… I am feeling adventurous!

Family and portrait sessions

You don’t need a birthday or special occasion to book a photo shoot and in 2018 there were 35 families who popped into the studio to create some lovely memories. There has been some research done about positive factors for children’s wellbeing and one of the points is making children feel included, and seeing images of themselves and their family around the home in the form of photographs contributes towards this.

Do you enjoy looking at old photos? I bet you have a box hidden away somewhere that you love rediscovering from time to time? This is the true power of photos.

Mini Sessions

In 2018 I held two lots of Minis… firstly I did a series of family sessions in Saltwell Park followed by the ever popular Christmas Minis! There were 32 mini sessions in 2018 and I am planning a lot more in 2019! Maybe some Mummy and Me sessions? What do you think?

Weddings

Weddings are a HUGE part of my business and although they technically don’t fall under the Tiny Baby Studio banner I still really wanted to include them in the round up! They can all be found here.

I photographed 27 weddings and I probably cried at everyone! My favourite part of every wedding is seeing the dress for the first time and I’ve adored watching the bride looking stunning and float down the aisle 27 times… lucky eh? I’ve witnessed 27 first kisses, I’ve been showered in confetti and I’ve boogied on the dance floor alongside happy guests. It’s a ‘job’ that I am very lucky to have… although I struggle to call it a job. Work isn’t meant to be this much fun!

So there you go! Over 250 shoots later… what a year!!
